COVID-19 vaccination information for patients with a history of allergy

There is no non mRNA alternative vaccine available via the NHS.

Individuals with prior allergic reactions to COVID-19 vaccines or a history of anaphylaxis to other medicines and vaccines should be managed in line with the advice provided in Table 5 of the Green Book, Chapter 14a.

Those with an mRNA vaccine allergy should be referred to an expert allergist or other appropriate specialist, and where vaccination is then indicated following individual clinical assessment, then vaccine administration can proceed in a hospital setting under clinical supervision. These individuals should be given documentary evidence to confirm that they are able to receive the mRNA vaccine with enhanced monitoring and in light of this assessment can then be supported to have their vaccine at the hospital hub within Aintree Hospitals.
